EYE PADS
Leave in position for 8 hours/12 hours/24 hours/ 48 hours. Only removing it to apply any ointment which you may have been given. Wearing dark sunglasses may help if the eye feels sensitive to the light after the pad has been removed. It is important that you are not able to open your eye beneath the pad.
You must not drive or operate machinery whilst wearing the eye pad.
If you are a smoker, be extra careful not to set the pad on fire.
Some drops will make the pupil of your eye larger, this will wear off in time.
OINTMENT
Apply two drops of ointment two.three/four times a day for 2/3/4 days. It is an antibiotic ointment and will help prevent your eye from becoming infected.
- Wash hands before use
- Stand or sit comfortably
- Tilt your head backwards
- Rest your hand on your cheek and gently pull down lower lid with one finger to form a sac.
- Look up
- Use other hand to apply ointment, in center of lower lid.
PAIN
If your eye injury/complaint is causing you pain, you should take regular painkillers e.g paracetamol.
See your doctor if your symptoms don’t improve after 4 days.
